Book Two  in a Magical Junior Novel Series for Young Readers aged 6-9. (Can be read as part of the series or as a standalone)

Eclipse has vanished—and he took a dangerous secret with him.

In this exciting sequel to, The Unicorn Shore: The Secret of the Shell, nine-year-old Marigold returns to the magical land of the Unicorn Shore only to discover that Eclipse, her friend and the noble leader of the Pegasus Clan, has mysteriously vanished.

All that remains is a cryptic letter and a map covered in ancient glowing symbols. With her loyal companions, Coral, Spark, Nibbles, and little Rose, Marigold sets off on a daring quest beyond the borders of the known realm, through the Lost Mountains and into a forgotten land.

Along the way, they meet Draven, a mysterious unicorn with secrets of his own, and Auri, who can sense the emotions others try to hide. Guided by Serene, the hidden realm’s keeper, they uncover the truth about Eclipse’s past, and the rise of a powerful enemy determined to use Shadow Magic to seize control of the unicorn realm.

As the rescue mission grows more dangerous, Marigold and her friends must summon all their courage, trust in one another, and confront the darkness that threatens to change everything.

Can they find Eclipse before it’s too late? And will he have the strength to face his past and embrace his true destiny?

A Note to Parents: The Unicorn Shore: Eclipse’s Secret is a junior novel for readers aged 6–9. It features small black-and-white, pencil-drawn chapter header illustrations only. This is intentionally designed to create a gentle visual anchor that complements the story to support advancing readers as they transition from heavily illustrated early chapter books to text-only novels.

Junior novels offer an ideal next step up from early chapter books. They are mostly text-based stories that challenge young readers with richer vocabulary and longer narratives, helping to develop their reading skills and attention span. With a Lexile range of approximately 360L to 400L, The Unicorn Shore series also supports reluctant older elementary readers by offering a longer story with a more accessible Lexile range.

Rooted in themes of courage, teamwork, sisterhood, forgiveness, and the contrast between light and shadow, this series is well suited for strong 1st-grade readers, as well as on-level 2nd and 3rd graders. If your young reader still relies heavily on illustrations for context and pacing, this would be an excellent book to read aloud together.

Fans of Magic Tree House, Never Girls, and Unicorn Academy will find an exciting, page-turning adventure filled with courage, humor, and heart.
